Warranty

Stop leaks, prevent damage and restore your shower’s waterproof seal without removing tiles.

Is water escaping your shower even though the tiles look fine?

When the silicone around your shower screen, floor or corners starts going black, peeling or cracking, that’s a failed seal, not failed grout. It’s a different job to regrouting, and it’s usually the faster, cheaper fix if that’s genuinely what’s wrong. We diagnose which one you actually need before we quote you anything.

We reseal showers across Sydney by removing all failed silicone and sealant, then replacing it with high performance waterproof products that stop leaks and resist mould. No tiles removed. No renovation needed. Your shower is ready to use within 24 hours.

Cost to Reseal a Shower in Sydney

The cost to reseal a shower depends on the size of the area, the number of joints requiring attention, and the condition of the existing sealant.
Silicone replacement on a standard shower typically starts from $250 and increases with scope. Because every shower is different, we recommend sending through photos so we can assess and provide an honest, tailored estimate before booking.

What Is Shower Resealing?

Shower resealing involves removing old, damaged or mouldy silicone sealant from the joints, corners and edges of your shower, and replacing it with fresh, waterproof sealant. It’s a crucial part of maintaining a leak-free, mould-resistant bathroom.
The joints that typically need resealing include:

  • Where the wall tiles meet the floor tiles: This is the most common failure point as it bears the most water exposure and movement
  • Where the wall tiles meet the shower screen: Screen joints flex with use, causing silicone to pull away over time
  • Around taps, mixers, and shower heads: Water tracks behind fittings when the seal around them fails
  • Along corners where two tiled walls meet: Corner joints move as the building settles, cracking the silicone
  • Around niches and shelves: Recessed areas collect water and are often the first place sealant fails

These are the areas where water gets in. When the silicone pulls away or goes black with mould, it is no longer doing its job. Resealing restores the waterproof barrier and stops water tracking behind the tiles.

Common Signs Your Shower Needs Resealing

Not all leaks come from cracked tiles or missing grout. If your silicone sealant is failing, the signs often show up slowly, and then all at once.

  • Silicone pulling away: The sealant is lifting at the edges or separating from the tiles
  • Black mould in the silicone: Mould growing in the sealant that will not clean off no matter what you use
  • Hard, cracked, or yellowed silicone: The sealant has dried out and lost its flexibility
  • Water on the bathroom floor: Water appearing outside the shower after use even though the screen looks fine
  • Damp patches or musty smells: Moisture is getting behind the tiles and into the wall cavity
  • Paint peeling nearby: Paint blistering on the wall behind or beside the shower from moisture escaping

If you are seeing any of these, the sealant has failed. The sooner it is replaced, the less chance of water damage to the structure underneath.

We have had Andreas and his team re-grout and epoxy seal our shower floors in both our family and ensuite bathrooms. At the same time we had our shower screens replaced by All Points Glass who work with and co-ordinate with Leaky Showers Sealed. Recommended by Andreas. We could not be happier with the job that was completed by the two capable and professional technicians who completed the work. We also needed a couple of tiles replaced (we had spares fortunately). The additional work was done for a reasonable additional fee and no drama. We would be happy to recommend Leaky Showers Sealed for anyone needing to refresh their shower.

How We Reseal Your Shower

  1. Step 1 Inspection:: We check every joint in the shower to identify where the sealant has failed and where water is getting through.
  2. Step 2 Removal:: All old silicone is carefully cut out and removed. We clean the joints back to a clean surface so the new sealant bonds properly.
  3. Step 3 Preparation:: The joints are cleaned and dried. Any mould or residue is treated before the new sealant goes in.
  4. Step 4 Resealing:: We apply premium waterproof silicone to every joint, corner, and fixture. The sealant is tooled for a clean, professional finish.
  5. Step 5 Final Check and Clean: We inspect every sealed joint, clean the tiles, and leave your shower ready to use within 24 hours.

Why Resealing Works Better Than DIY

Hardware store silicone is not the same as what we use. Consumer grade sealant breaks down faster in wet areas, does not resist mould as well, and often fails within months.

We use commercial grade, mould resistant silicone specifically designed for showers and wet areas. Applied correctly by an experienced technician, it lasts years, not months.

The other issue with DIY resealing is preparation. If the old silicone is not completely removed and the surface is not properly cleaned, the new sealant will not bond and the leak comes back. We make sure the prep is done right so the seal holds.

Resealing vs Regrouting

Resealing and regrouting are two different jobs that are often needed together.

Resealing Best used when:
The grout is still sound but the silicone joints around the screen, base, and wall junctions have failed or deteriorated.
Key benefit:
Restores the flexible waterproof seal at movement joints quickly and without major disruption. Typical use case: Shower screen edges, horizontal joints where tiles meet the floor, and tap surrounds.

Regrouting Best used when:
The grout between tiles is cracked, crumbling, mouldy, or missing.
Key benefit:
Replaces the structural grout barrier between tiles, restoring both waterproofing and appearance. Typical use case: Shower walls and floors where grout has visibly failed across multiple joints.

If your grout is cracked or missing, resealing alone will not fix the problem.
And if your silicone has failed but the grout is fine, you may only need resealing.
We assess your shower on site and tell you exactly what is needed. Many showers need both, which we can do in a single visit.

We reseal showers across Sydney including the North Shore, Hills District, and Western Sydney. Call 1300 815 512 for a free onsite quote.

Shower Resealing FAQS

Most showers are resealed in 2 to 3 hours. You can use the shower again within 24 hours once the sealant has cured.

You can, but the result rarely lasts. Consumer silicone is lower grade, and preparation is critical. If the old silicone is not fully removed or the surface is not clean, the new sealant will fail quickly.

A professionally resealed shower should last 5 to 10 years depending on use. If you notice the silicone starting to pull away or discolour, it is time to have it checked.

Resealing replaces the flexible silicone in joints and corners. Regrouting replaces the hard grout between tiles. Many showers need both, which we do in a single visit.
