Grout Repair in Sydney

What does grout repair involve?
Many people ring us when they can see the grout in their shower is damaged or missing. A section of grout has gone or a section has cracked and started letting water through.
We cut out the failed grout and replace it with new grout. We take the time to seal the bathroom area so all dust is kept contained and we extract it so there is not cement dust all through your home.
We then replace the missing grout with epoxy grout for the floor and water and dirt repellent grout for the walls
How do you know grout needs repairing rather than cleaning?
If you cannot get your grout clean, it likely needs to be replaced
What we look for:
- Stains in the grout are permanent
- There are cracks in the grout between the tiles
- Grout comes away powdery on a fingernail.
- There is a gap where grout used to be, often in the corner of the shower floor.
- The silicone bead has lifted off the tile.
- The bathroom smells damp and you cannot find why.
Mould living inside porous grout cannot be cleaned out. You are scrubbing the surface of something that is wet all the way through.
How long does grout repair take?
Most grout repairs are done in a day. A section of a shower is a few hours. A full shower takes longer. Epoxy needs curing time before the shower goes back into use and we tell you how long on the day.
Why Homeowners Choose Our Regrouting Service
Can you repair grout yourself?
It’s possible to regrout yourself, and plenty of homeowners do. The issue is usually preparation. A tube of grout from the hardware store applied over failing grout can look fine for a few months, then fails again, because the underlying problem was never addressed.
The work that takes time is cutting out the old grout cleanly without chipping tile edges, and getting the joints fully dry before applying new material. Skip either step and the results won’t last.
For a small patch on a floor, a DIY attempt is reasonable.
For a shower where water is already getting through, it’s worth getting it done properly once rather than doing it twice.
When is grout repair enough, and when do you need a full regrout?
It comes down to how much has failed.
If a few joints have cracked or a section has washed out and the rest of the grout is sound, repairing those areas is the sensible job.
If the grout is breaking down across the whole shower, staining everywhere and coming away when you touch it, patching sections will not hold.
At that point a full regrout costs less than trying to repair it.

Do the tiles have to come off to repair grout?
No! This is the part people are most surprised about. They assume fixing grout means pulling tiles, and once tiles come off you are into waterproofing and retiling and a bathroom you cannot use for a fortnight. Grout repair is not that job.
Will repairing the grout stop my shower leaking?
Often, yes. It depends where the water is getting through.
A lot of shower leaks start at the grout and silicone. Water finds a gap, gets behind the tiles, and shows up as a damp skirting board or a stain on the ceiling below. Repairing the grout and replacing the silicone closes that path.
Sometimes the grout isn’t the problem, and we’ll say so.
If it is leaking pipes, drains and tap, this is a plumber’s work.
A failed waterproofing membrane under the tiles needs more extensive work with a waterproofer and a tiler required for this work.
Perished showerscreens or seals are a glazier’s job.
We work alongside all three and can help you get your shower back on track.

Why We Use Epoxy Grout
Not all grout is the same. We use premium epoxy grout, not standard cement grout because it performs better in showers and wet areas.
It’s the smarter choice when:
- 100% waterproof: Doesn’t absorb moisture like cement grout
- Mould and stain resistant: Stays cleaner for longer
- Won’t crack or shrink: Flexes with movement instead of splitting
- Lasts significantly longer: Backed by our 10-year warranty
- Looks better: Consistent colour and a smooth, professional finish
Epoxy costs more than cement grout, but it lasts years longer and doesn’t need sealing. For showers, bathrooms, and ensuites, it’s the only grout we recommend.
Can you repair grout on a balcony?
Yes, and balconies fail for the same reason showers do. Grout and silicone on an outdoor balcony cop sun, rain and movement, so they go before anything else does. Same job, same approach, the tiles stay in place.
